He was born in 1949.4 He was an announcer at Emissores Associados de Lisboa, on Avenida Elias Garcia, when, at 22:55 on 24 April 1974, he announced live: “It is five minutes to eleven. With you, Paulo de Carvalho with Eurofestival 74, ‘E Depois do Adeus’” (Faltam cinco minutos para as vinte e três horas. Convosco, Paulo de Carvalho com o Eurofestival 74, “E Depois do Adeus”).12
Paulo de Carvalho’s song was the first signal of the Armed Forces Movement: the cue for the units taking part to begin preparing for the troops to move out.12 The Aljube Museum plays the recording, with João Paulo Diniz’s voice, in its exhibition.3
